Two stellar galaxies are very near NGC 4874. NGC 4871 (14.1m(v), 0.7'x0.5', SA0, Br5): Stellar, 14th magnitude NGC 4873 (14.0m(v), 0.8'x0.6', SA0, Br5): Slightly brighter than -71. Stellar. The 2nd brightest and largest is NGC 4889 (11.5m(v), 2,9'x1,9', E4+, Br3): Almost round, quite strongly concentrated. Quite much like -74. It has also two stellar companions: NGC 4886 (13.8m(v), 1,1', E0, Br4): Stellar, quite easy (13.5m) NGC 4889 (13.5m(v), -, E+, Br5): Stellar, quite easy. Four very small galaxies are found S of NGC 4889. The brightest and largest is NGC 4876 (14.4m(v), 0.6'x0.5', E5, Br5): Small (15-20''), round, clearly concentrated. NGC 4875 (14.6m(v), -, SA0, Br5): Stellar, some nebulosity suspected. Difficult. IC 3973 (14.4m(v), -, SB0, Br5): Stellar. NGC 4869 (13.7m(v), 0.7'x0.7', E3, Br5): A nebulous star, the nebulosity being very diffuse and faint. The last 3 galaxies W of NGC 4889. NGC 4867 (14.4m(v), 0.7', E3, Br5): Stellar, 14.5m. Quite difficult. NGC 4864 (13.5m(v), 0.6'x0.3', E2, Br5): barely non-stellar with averted vision. A vF, eS disk. IC 3955 (14.4m(v), -, SA0, Br5): Stellar. Faint.
