This historic seven day electronic conference will offer interactive dialogue from all segments of the North American community via computer and modem. Guest speakers from the three NAFTA signing countries, Canada, the United States, and Mexico will be presenting and defending their points of view regarding the agreement and the environment, business growth, intellectual property rights, immigration, labor considerations and more. Participants may interact with the speakers and one another. There is an interesting flavor to eletronic conferencing that will prove to be most beneficial during this NAFTA congress. Statements and messages (E-Mail) are generally more "thoughtful" than spontaneous live conversation. This results in factual and logical debate instead of emotional rhetoric. This will also give many Canadians, Americans, and Mexicans who are too busy or do not have access to local conferences a chance to speak their mind. This will prove to be the first real consensus of what real people think of NAFTA. The complete text of NAFTA will be available online in Spanish and English. The speakers' prepared statements will also be available online. They may be downloaded weeks before the conference to give participants an opportunity to formulate observations and points of discussion. The cost is $25, which includes 3 months access to the sponsoring organization's online system, MexNET The Mexico Business Network. Registration begins September 1 and ends October 30, 1993. We encourage everyone to register on line. Please call the conference dataline with computer and modem, 801-486-8833 (Protocol N-8-1).
