May 5-7 11th Annual Spring Kite Festival Jul 1-2 7th Summer Festival and Sport Kite Competition Sep 29-1 17th Annual Fall International Kite Festival A series of contests will be held at each event - most beautiful, biggest, smallest, best display, most humorous, etc. Points will be awarded in each category for each festival. And at the end of the season the person with the most points will win -get this - either $1000 cash or an all expense paid trip to Weifang China. The cash has already been committed. The trip is in the final stages of being negotiated with a sponsor. So at a minimum, the winner will get the cash. Lincoln City is using concession proceeds of their festivals to fund travel scholarships for two kids each year. The kids will be part of the official USA delegation to Weifang in 1996. (I'll be leading that tour if anyone else wants to join in.) IMHO - sending locals kids on overseas kite trips is a delightful concept. Lincoln City has had their share of problems lately, but things appear to be coming back together. Hope to see many of you here. -- David Gomberg/Cascade Kites phone 503-996-3083 Box 113, Neotsu Oregon 97364 USA fax 503-994-9692 Call us for competitive prices on BIG "show" kites. You have it listed as the North Coast Challenge and part of the Western league. The North Coast Challenge will be held in conjunction with the Summer Festival. We'll have a sport kite competition AND a general festival. The Western League has not been formally announced yet. We're still working out some of the finer points. However, when the League is formed, the North Coast Challenge will be part of it. Thanks for asking. -- David Gomberg/Cascade Kites phone 503-996-3083 Box 113, Neotsu Oregon 97364 USA fax 503-994-9692 Call us for competitive prices on BIG "show" kites.
