No, the PP connection was never at my store in Annapolis, Jeff.  This one
is new to me.  Don't know who it might have been, unless it was connected
somehow to the King of the Wind (Bill Ochse), but I don't think he ever
had an Annapolis address.

A friend recently told me about a used kite book his wife had picked up for
him.  One reason for telling me about it was that he was curious about a
reference to Peter Powell being located in Annapolis, MD.

After a bit more prompting about the color of the book and the graphic on
the front, I identified the book as Susan Tyrell's _Kites:  the gentle art
of high flying_ (no, I didn't remember the subtitle... ;-), which I happen
to own.

Sure enough, this book, published in 1978, lists Peter Powell Kites of
America, 1914 Sands Dr., Annapolis, MD  21401.

I don't remember Powell ever being located in MD...as far back as I can
remember, the company was down in Florida.  Of course, though a kiter, I
wasn't all that cognizant of such things back in the 70's.

So far, the only thing I can think of that would explain the Annapolis
address is if Brooks Leffler (who also imported Greens kites through
Annapolis) was importing the kites to the US.

Does anybody know anything about the early days of the company in the US?
