As i read about the FTP-Server at 'FTP.HAWAII.EDU' in rec.kites i tried to contact it for getting the octopus-plan by Bernhard. That link was (is) so terribly slow, that i decided to create a mirror of that site for a better european access to a kite-archive. >From today on we offer you a complete Hawaii-mirror at our anonymous-FTP-server 'ftp.uni-bremen.de' (134.102.228.9) which mirrors Hawaii every weekend. The archive is located at ftp.uni-bremen.de:/pub/kites If you have any comments, please send me a mail. So, now feel free to connect to ftp.uni-bremen.de!!! Have fun Sven ***************************************************************** P.S. 1: We want to create a collection of plans with nice layouts like the octopus plan by Bernhard. If you have such a thing that can by distributed freely, please send uuencoded to svh@pc-labor.uni-bremen.de or place a copy in the incoming-directory /pub/kites/incoming. ***************************************************************** P.S. 2: I don't know how many of you have direct Internet-access or depend on an EMail-access to FTP. If there is enough interest, we plan to setup a FTP-by-Mail service. Please send mail, if FTP-by-Mail is needed. -- -- /------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | | | |^\ Sven Hapke | | .__| | (Dept. of computer science) | | | * `-. Well, another mirror in Europe already, you are spoiling us:-) >P.S. 1: We want to create a collection of plans with nice layouts like > the octopus plan by Bernhard. Will Hawaii mirror Bremen, too? If I'll send stuff to Bremen will it find it's way to Hawaii or do I need to send it twice? Simo> Will Hawaii mirror Bremen, too? If I'll send stuff to Bremen will Simo> it find it's way to Hawaii or do I need to send it twice? Well Simo, i offered this to Kevin, who is the kites-admin at FTP.HAWAII.EDU, but got no response so far. :-( Maybe my mail to him or his to me got lost somewhere?!? So, lets try it this way. Some remarks about the 'state-of-the-art': In my announcement i asked abount the need to setup a FTP-by-Mail-service. I got some positive response and so we are working on it since three days. I hope we can start offering this service this week. I'll post, when we finished configuring and testing it. I mentioned, that we want to collect 'nice' plans and got positive responses, too. To Kevin at FTP.HAWAII.EDU: Kevin, if you want to mirror that part, feel free to conntact me at svh@ftp.uni-bremen.de To the rest of the world: If you connected your archive and had some trouble or want to make some remarks, please send to the address above. more wind (... and Simo, more light :-) ) Sven -- -- |^\ Sven Hapke .__| | Dept. of computer science | * `-. So, lets try it this way. Sorry, I put it on the back burner. Have a few projects that I am trying to complete before I leave on my next trip. The bottom line, Hawaii will mirror Bremen. Just have to work out the details so that we do not create a circular mirror (and waste tons of disk space). - Kevin -- -- \ Kevin Mayeshiro : Go fly a kite. o --|\ University of Hawaii Computing Center : Really, /== ---|/ Internet: kevin@Hawaii.Edu : It's FUN! \ / ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
