Hi. The files in smartbinaries.tar.Z are the binaries and connected csh-scripts of a working SMART system that runs happily on my Linux-box for two months now. I had to fiddle a bit when compiling the sources though, but I am certainly not an experienced unix-user (only got to use it because of SMART's avaiability on unix only.) The sources are available on cs.cornell.edu and there is an user-mail with the address 'smart-people@cs.cornell.edu' that probably are bettter in answering questions than I am. BTW The documentation that comes with the sources is a bitch. If you run SMART on your machine you'll have to twiddle the directory-names in the scripts! If you have any problems *activating SMART* from my binaries, pleas email me at paai@kub.nl. All other questions (after studieing the Docs that you downloaded from ftp.cs.cornell.edu diligently) to the smart-poeple mentioned above. BTW. Please note that SMART was made available as an experimental IR-system and that you should also read all the disclaimers etc. from the original Docs before using it! I am not a lawyer, so I don't know how to put this clearer than that: do not use it before reading thef original Docs! Good luck. Hans Paijmans paai@kub.nl
