% This is the file README

% INSTALLATION.
%
% It is assumed that LaTeX is installed and running at your site.
%
% It is also assumed that you are using `cm' fonts at your site. The
% macros DO NOT WORK correctly with an `am' font substitution.
%
% To begin, copy the .STY files into
% the directory at your site that contains other style files;
% this directory is usually named TEXINPUT.
%
% Copy the other files into a directory to work.
%
% To begin, print out SMPLEA.TEX to get a good idea
% of how the definitions work: type in ``latex smplea'' at your system
% prompt. This file was designed to give you many examples in a
% short file. See your site expert to obtain output from the
% SMPLEA.TEX file.
% Then take a look at the Input Guide: type in ``latex apguide''
% at your system prompt.
% The SMPLEB.TEX file will also be a helpful reference.
% There we have included and entire Physical Review paper.
%
% CONVERTING OLD REVTEX FILES FOR USE WITH VERSION 2.0
%
% See the input guide for all the differences, but the most
% important are:
% (1) Delete the square bracket argument in the bibitem section
% if the reference is simply to be numbered. Also, delete
% your old auxiliary file or your first LaTeX run will bomb.
% (2) Force all breaks in the title, author list, institution list,
% and section and appendix headings with \\.
% (3) Look at the new use of \eqnum---it is not the same.
% smplea.tex shows usage.
% (4) Note that the printed style of references and citations is
% changed per an editorial decision.
% (5) We have tried to make REVTEX 2.0 BibTeX-compatible.
% You should now be able to use the normal LaTeX/BibTeX
% commands (\bibliographystyle,\bibliography) IN LIEU OF
% the references environment. If you do this, you must of
% course MAKE SURE that you keep the correct references with
% the main file when you submit it. For the sake of
% simplicity, it is better if the Editorial Office receives
% a SINGLE file, ESPECIALLY in the case of an electronic
% submission. With these concerns in mind, you should just
% comment out the two bibliography commands and input the .bbl
% file directly into your main file just before submitting it.
% It should run correctly this way.
% Also, you may have to input byline citations manually
% into the .bbl file. Please let us know if you find BibTeX
% useful in this environment and if there are any problems
% with BibTeX use. This is an continuing concern.
